... was also, at the time the question was asked, the holder of the world records for the men's 1500 metres, in a time of 3:26.00 (set in 1998) and 2,000 metres (4:44.79, 1999). His world record for the mile was also set in 1999. He also won Olympic gold medals in the 1500m and 5,000m at Athens in 2004. He retired in 2006.

He has been described by the IAAF as "the greatest of all time." The greatest what, it doesn't say (having given him credit for shaking off the title of "the greatest athlete never to win Olympic gold"); but Wikipedia, citing the IAAF's article) calls him "the greatest middle–distance runner of all time".
